Regular Season Round 12: Toyama G. - Ryukyu GK 64-85

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Toyama. Third ranked Ryukyu GK faced their close opponent Toyama G.. Guests from Okinawa (8-3) smashed host Toyama G. (4-8) 85-64. Ryukyu GK dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Toyama G.'s 30. They outrebounded Toyama G. 37-22 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds and forward Naoki Tashiro (188-93) supported him with 19 points. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK's coach Norio Sassa felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 23 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists by American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) did not help to save the game for Toyama G.. International forward Naoki Uto (188-91) added 8 points and 11 assists. Ryukyu GK have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Toyama G. at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Ryukyu GK's next round opponent will be Toyota Alvark (#3) in Tokyo, which may be the game of the day. Toyama G. will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
