Regular Season Round 6: Haukar - IR 101-82

Everything could happen in Hafnarfjordur at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Haukar and 7th ranked IR had identical 3-2 record. This time Haukar used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Reykjavik 101-82. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. IR was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Haukar outrebounded IR 46-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a good game for American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (202-84, college: UT Martin) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Flenard Whitfield (201-90, college: W.Michigan) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. International forward Collin Pryor (198-90, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American point guard Evan Singletary (185-94, college: Albany) added 22 points and 8 assists in the effort for IR. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Haukar (4-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. IR at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur and it will be for sure the game of the week. IR's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Reykjavik Fjolnir.
