Regular Season Round 5: Zaporizhye - Prometey 77-103

Leader Prometey delivered the seventh victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Zaporizhye (3-6) 103-77 in Zaporozhye. The game without a history. Prometey led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Prometey had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Zaporizhye's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Prometey made 9 blocks. The former international guard Denys Lukashov (197-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Vitali Malchevskiy (203-87) chipped in 18 points. American center Deionte Simmons (205-96, college: Chicago St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and forward Dmytro Lypovtsev (203-86) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Prometey and four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Prometey maintains first place with 7-1 record. Loser Zaporizhye dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Prometey will meet Mykolaiv (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zaporizhye will play against Mykolaiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
