Regular Season Round 8: Castello - Alicante 91-85

There was a minor upset in Castellon where higher ranked HLA Alicante (4-4) was defeated by twelfth ranked Castello (4-4) 91-85. Castello players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by HLA Alicante helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Serbian Brano Djukanovic (194-95) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!) and 5 assists and naturalized Angolan forward Julio De-Assis (203-92, agency: Duran International) supported him with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 24 points by American point guard Justin Pitts (178-94, college: NW Missouri St., agency: Duran International) did not help to save the game for HLA Alicante. His fellow American import guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. HLA Alicante's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Castello moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated HLA Alicante. Castello's next round opponent will be higher ranked Carramimbre (#3) in Valladolid and it may be quite challenging game.
