Regular Season Round 7: Arkadia - Timberwolves 89-65

Rather predictable result in Traiskirchen where seventh ranked Arkadia Lions (3-4) smashed bottom-ranked Timberwolves (0-5) 89-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Arkadia Lions. Timberwolves was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arkadia Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Timberwolves' 26. Arkadia Lions forced 20 Timberwolves turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Aleksandar Andjelkovic (201-97) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: NC Central) helped adding 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Philipp D'Angelo (198-89) responded with 22 points and guard Jonas John (186-99) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Arkadia Lions maintains seventh place with 3-4 record. Timberwolves lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Arkadia Lions will face league's leader Gunners Oberwart on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timberwolves will play against UBSC Graz (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
