Regular Season Round 14: Kawasaki BT - San-en NP 81-79

Sixth-ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (0-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Toshiba Thunders (11-3) in Kanagawa on Sunday. Toshiba Thunders managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. Toshiba Thunders shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Jordan Heath (208-91, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. American center Kyle Barone (203-89, college: Idaho) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import center Jessie Govan (185-97, college: Georgetown) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-3 record. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will meet league's second-placed Yokohama BC on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) in Tokyo and hopes to get finally their first victory.
