Regular Season Round 5: Dnipro - Khimik 65-57

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Dnipro. Third ranked Dnipro faced second-ranked Khimik. Host Dnipro (6-1) defeated guests from Yuzhny (6-2) 65-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Khimik. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-10. But Khimik won second period 16-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Khimik 47-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international guard Issuf Sanon (190-99) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Dnipro's coach Denys Zhuravlov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Andrii Voinalovych (207-99) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Dnipro have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Khimik dropped to the third position with two games lost. Dnipro are looking forward to face Kyiv Basket (#5) at home in the next round. Khimik will play against Odessa and is hoping to win this game.
