Regular Season Round 7: Tofas - Partizan NIS 82-72

Second defeat of league's leader Serbian Partizan NIS (5-2) against third ranked Turkish Tofas (4-3) 82-72 was the most important game of the last round. The game was mostly controlled by Tofas. Partizan NIS managed to win third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Sammy Mejia (199-83, college: DePaul) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Devin Williams (206-94, college: WVU) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Tofas players scored in double figures. Power forward Stefan Bircevic (210-89) answered with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Bosnian point guard Nemanja Gordic (193-88, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points in the effort for Partizan NIS. Partizan NIS's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tofas maintains third place in Group B with 4-3 record having just two points less than leader Virtus BO. Partizan NIS at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Venezia. They were replaced at the leadership position by Virtus BO. Partizan NIS will play next round against strong Rytas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tofas will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Umana Venezia at home.
