Regular Season Round 9: Unics-2 - CSKA Junior 65-87

VTB-Youth League top team - CSKA Junior (12-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Unics-2 (5-5) in Kazan 87-65. The game without a history. CSKA Junior led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-32 charity shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Unics-2 only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Unics-2 36-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Alexander Maltsev (200-2) stepped up and scored 30 points for the winners and forward Anton Kardanakhishvili (192-2) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was center Semen Pinaev (208-99) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and forward Dmitriy Mileshin (193-0) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSKA Junior have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-0 record. Unics-2 at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. CSKA Junior will play against league's second-placed N.Novgorod-2 in Nizhny Novgorod in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Unics-2 will play at home against Enisey-2 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
