Regular Season Round 8: UBSC Graz - Timberwolves 88-72

Bottom-ranked Timberwolves (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-72 loss to eighth ranked UBSC Graz (2-6) in Graz on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by UBSC Graz. Timberwolves managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UBSC Graz looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Anton Beard (183-96, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import guard Derrik Jamerson (196-97, college: Norfolk St., agency: Interperformances) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Beard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. UBSC Graz's coach Ervin Dragsic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Philipp D'Angelo (198-89) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jakob Szkutta (188-99) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. UBSC Graz maintains eighth position with 2-6 record. Loser Timberwolves still closes the standings with six games lost. UBSC Graz will meet at home league's leader Gunners Oberwart in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Timberwolves will have a break next round.
