Regular Season Round 11: Schalke - Hagen Phoenix 79-76

A very interesting game took place in Schalke. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 17th ranked Phoenix Hagen (2-9) to fourteenth ranked Schalke (3-7) 79-76 on Sunday evening. Power forward Johannes Joos (206-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points. American point guard Shavar Newkirk (183-96, college: St.Joseph's) contributed with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Schalke players scored in double figures. Joel-Sadu Aminu (193-97, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jonathan Octeus (193-91, college: Purdue) added 18 points in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Schalke moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Phoenix Hagen lost their sixth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Schalke's next round opponent will be higher ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Phoenix Hagen will play against Kirchheim Knights (#12) and hope to win that game.
