Regular Season Round 16: Hitachi SRT - Kyoto H. 81-75

There was a small surprise when third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (12-4) won against their close opponent Kyoto H. (8-8) in Tokyo 81-75 on Sunday. They outrebounded Kyoto H. 50-22 including a 22-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) added 17 points in the effort for Kyoto H.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Alvark T. and Tochigi B. Kyoto H. lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will have a break next round. Kyoto H. will play at home against the league's leader Osaka E. (#1) and hope to win that game.
