Regular Season Round 12: Siauliai - Nevezis 96-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Siauliai's (4-6) home victory over 8th ranked Nevezis (3-8) 96-81 on Wednesday. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 34. It was a great shooting night for Siauliai especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by guard Evaldas Saulys (190-93) who scored that evening 22 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and forward Justas Furmanavicius (198-94, college: Ole Miss) supported him with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Siauliai's coach Antanas Sireika used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 21 points by Russian guard Zakhar Vedishchev (193-0) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Siauliai moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Juventus. Loser Nevezis keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Siauliai will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nevezis will play against Dzukija (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
