Regular Season Round 8: Tritonas S. - Karditsas 91-81

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Tritonas S. (2-5) beat higher ranked Karditsas (5-3) in Athens 91-81 on Wednesday. Tritonas S. made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Karditsas was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Nikolaos Koutoulas (178-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Swingman Nikos Kokkalis (198-85) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Tritonas S. players scored in double figures. Guard Nikos Kaklamanos (189-81) replied with 28 points and 6 assists and guard Leonidas Triantafillou (190-88) added 23 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Karditsas. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Tritonas S. went down to thirteenth position due to points difference, which they share with Pagrati. Loser Karditsas dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Tritonas S. will face higher ranked Koroivos (#10) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Karditsas will play against Apollon P. (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
