Regular Season Round 7: Fos-Provence - Vichy Clermont 76-67

Provence Basket's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked JA Vichy (4-3) 76-67 on Friday. They outrebounded JA Vichy 38-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Provence Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Caleb Walker (194-89, college: Nebraska) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Cameroonian center Junior MBida (206-90) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valpo) came up with 13 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Pendarvis Williams (198-91, college: Norfolk St.) added 15 points respectively for JA Vichy in the defeat. JA Vichy's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Provence Basket (1-6) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Poitiers. Loser JA Vichy dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Provence Basket will meet league's second-placed Souffelweyersheim on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against Poitiers and hope to secure a win.
