Regular Season Round 10: Neptune - Belfast Star 89-84

An interesting game for Neptune (7-2) which hosted in Cork 4th ranked Belfast Star (6-4). Second ranked Neptune managed to get a 5-point victory 89-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Belfast Star. Neptune dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Belfast Star's 36. They outrebounded Belfast Star 45-28 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spanish forward Nil Sabita (200) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Kyle Hosford (182-89) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Neptune's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side the former international forward Keelan Cairns (211-92, college: Pennsylvania) responded with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Aidan Quinn (185-95, college: Mayville St.) scored 19 points. Four Belfast Star players scored in double figures. Neptune have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Eanna. Belfast Star at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Neptune will play against Tralee (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Belfast Star will play against DCU Saints and hopes to get back on the winning track.
