Very important is a road loss of third ranked Beroe (6-2) against sixth ranked Academik Plovdiv (4-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Beroe was crushed by Academik Plovdiv in Plovdiv 91-63. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Beroe. Academik Plovdiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard William Perry (180-94, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) who added 19 points and 6 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) during the contest. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. American point guard Reger Dowell (185-91, college: UT Arlington) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Anthony Walker (206-93, college: UT Arlington) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Academik Plovdiv moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Academic. Loser Beroe keeps the third position with two games lost. Academik Plovdiv will meet league's second-placed Levski Lukoil in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Beroe will play against Cherno More and hope to secure a win.
