Regular Season Round 9: Anwil - Slask 96-85

Very expected game in Wloclawek where 10th ranked Slask (3-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Anwil (6-3) 96-85. They made 27-of-29 charity shots (93.1 percent) during the game. Anwil players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Slask helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American swingman Chris Dowe (191-91, college: Bellarmine) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import swingman Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Anwil's coach Igor Milicic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (203-92) answered with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Kamil Laczynski (183-89, agency: Alti Sport) added 14 points and 7 assists in the effort for Slask. Five Anwil and four Slask players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Asseco Arka and Trefl. Slask lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Anwil's next round opponent will be MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#9) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Slask will play against the league's second-placed Start and hope to win that game.
