The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rockets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rockets defeated leader Heat in Houston 117-108. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Rockets made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Heat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. James Harden (196-89, college: ASU) fired 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Russell Westbrook (190-88, college: UCLA) chipped in 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Rockets' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bam Adebayo (208-97, college: Kentucky) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Tyler Herro (196-0, college: Kentucky) added 22 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Rockets and five Heat players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Philadelphia 76. Heat at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Heat will play next day against Warriors trying to get back on the winning streak. Rockets will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
