Regular Season Round 13: Lorient - Vanves 84-83

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Vanves (1-10) was edged on the road by tenth ranked Lorient (4-8) 84-83 on Saturday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Lorient outrebounded Vanves 39-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (179-87) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Mali swingman Sourata Cisse (196-86) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Swingman Raphael Desroses (199-80) answered with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Corentin Sauzeau (182-91) added 11 points and 7 assists in the effort for Vanves. Four Vanves players scored in double figures. Vanves' coach Sylvain Mousseau tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Lorient went down to eleventh position (Group A) due to points difference, which they share with Stade Rochelais. Vanves lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Lorient will face Lourdes-Tarbes (#13) at home in the next round. Vanves will play against Vitre and hope to win that game.
