Regular Season Round 11: Santurtzi - La Fecha 68-72

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Santurtzi (1-9) was defeated at home by ninth ranked La Fecha (5-4) 72-68 on Saturday. Strangely Santurtzi outrebounded La Fecha 41-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Jorge Martinez (185-96) who scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Eduardo Castano (186-0) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. La Fecha's coach Roberto Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Imanol Artinano (203-95, college: Alders.-Broad.) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Xabier Vega (195-93) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. La Fecha moved-up to seventh place in Group A-A, which they share with Zarautz. Loser Santurtzi keeps the fifteenth position with nine games lost. La Fecha will face Valle de Egues (#12) in Olaz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Santurtzi will play on the road against Arha Hoteles in Santander and hope to win that game.
