Regular Season Round 9: Khimik-2 - Ternopil-TNEU 74-68

There was a change at the Higher League leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Ternopil-TNEU (7-2). They were defeated by third ranked Khimik-2 (6-1) 74-68 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ternopil-TNEU. Ternopil-TNEU was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Denys Klevzunyk (192-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and point guard Ruslan Ivashov (182-2) chipped in 17 points. The best for the losing side was forward Maxim Nikitin (201-89) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and guard Mykyta Naiko (197-92) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Ternopil-TNEU's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Khimik-2 maintains third place with 6-1 record behind leader KDPU, which they share with Politekhnik. Ternopil-TNEU at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Niko-Basket. They were replaced at the leadership position by KDPU. Ternopil-TNEU will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Khimik-2 will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Ternopil-TNEU on the road.
