There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked ratiopharm Ulm (4-6) crushed on the road 11th ranked Giessen 46ers (3-6) 97-77 on Sunday. ratiopharm Ulm made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Giessen 46ers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for Slovenian swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 assists. American forward Grant Jerrett (208-93, college: Arizona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm's coach Jaka Lakovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: UMass, agency: Interperformances) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Stephen Brown (180-96, college: Bucknell) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Giessen 46ers. ratiopharm Ulm moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Giessen 46ers dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will face higher ranked EWE Baskets (#6) in Oldenburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
