The game in Zaporozhye was also quite interesting. Second ranked Dnipro (9-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Zaporizhye (4-8). Dnipro defeated Zaporizhye 94-81 on Friday. Dnipro looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dnipro made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for international guard Issuf Sanon (192-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Maksym Zakurdaev (196-93) helped adding 21 points. At the losing side American guard Brandon Randolph (188-95, college: Utah Valley, agency: Interperformances) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import center Deionte Simmons (205-96, college: Chicago St.) scored 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Dnipro and five Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Dnipro used an opportunity after Prometey lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Zaporizhye lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. Dnipro will face Mykolaiv (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zaporizhye will play against Khimik in Yuzhny and hope to win that game.
