There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Roanne (6-6) crushed at home 8th ranked Boulazac (5-6) 82-62 on Friday. Roanne forced 25 Boulazac turnovers and outrebounded them 52-32 including a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Ludovic Martel (211-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Point guard Gaetan Meyniel (189-0) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Paul Billong (192-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Neftali Difuidi-Walokwa (193-1) added 10 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Boulazac. Five Roanne and four Boulazac players scored in double figures. Roanne moved-up to seventh place, which they share with ASVEL and Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Loser Boulazac dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Roanne will face Chalons-Reims (#13) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Boulazac will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
