Regular Season Round 17: Shiga L-Stars - Sea Horses M. 80-65

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Aishin Sea Horses (4-13) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-11) 80-65 on Saturday. American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Henry Walker (198-87, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American-Bulgarian power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: NC State) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Aishin Sea Horses' coach tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth place with 6-11 record. Loser Aishin Sea Horses keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face again higher ranked Aishin Sea Horses (#5) in Kariya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
