Regular Season Round 17: Kawasaki BT - Ryukyu GK 90-87

Second-ranked Ryukyu GK (10-6) gave a tough game to first ranked Toshiba Thunders (14-3) in Kanagawa on Saturday. Toshiba Thunders managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. Toshiba Thunders made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Ryukyu GK helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American forward DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and the former international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) scored 20 points. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Ryukyu GK at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Toshiba Thunders are again looking forward to face league's second-placed Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round.
