There was no surprise in Leverkusen where 4th placed Rostock S.J. (3-3) was defeated by second ranked TSV Bayer 04 (6-1) 83-73 on Saturday. TSV Bayer 04 forced 25 Rostock S.J. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. TSV Bayer 04 looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Rostock S.J.'s players. Ege Ildan (189-1) fired 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Henk Droste (195-1) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four TSV Bayer 04 players scored in double figures. TSV Bayer 04's coach let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toni Nickel (204-1) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Theo Brackmann (204-1) added 8 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for TSV Bayer 04. They maintain second place in A North with 6-1 record behind leader Ludwigsburg BBA. Loser Rostock S.J. keeps the fourth position with three games lost. TSV Bayer 04 will face Piraten (#3) in Hamburg in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Rostock S.J. will play on the road against Young Dragons in Quakenbrueck and hope to win that game.
