Regular Season Round 18: Shiga L-Stars - Sea Horses M. 82-73

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Aishin Sea Horses (4-14) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (7-11) 82-73 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-95) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to fifth place which they share with defeated Aishin Sea Horses. Aishin Sea Horses lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face league's leader Osaka E. at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aishin Sea Horses will play against San-en NeoPhoenix (#6) in Hamamatsu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
