Regular Season Round 19: Alvark T. - Hitachi SRT 74-72

A very close game took place in Tokyo between Toyota Alvark and Hitachi Sunrockers. Third ranked Toyota Alvark (14-5) got a very close home victory over their biggest opponent Hitachi Sunrockers (14-5). Toyota Alvark managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: WVU) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) came up with 26 points and 8 assists and American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) added 13 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Hitachi Sunrockers in the defeat. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Hitachi SRT. Toyota Alvark will meet league's second-placed Yokohama BC on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Shiga L-Stars and hope to secure a win.
