Very predictable result in Karlsruhe where sixth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-5) defeated 13th ranked Lions (4-9) 80-76 on Wednesday. Lions were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Niklas Wuerzner (196-94) scored 24 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Zamal Nixon (186-89, college: Houston) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. American forward Orlando Parker (203-91, college: Wagner) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Marcus Stroman (188-96, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Haylett Sports) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to fifth place. Loser Lions dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
