Regular Season Round 10: Rapid - Voluntari 2 85-66

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rapid as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rapid smashed 10th ranked Voluntari 2 in Bucuresti 85-66. The game was mostly controlled by Rapid. Voluntari 2 managed to win third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Voluntari 2 46-23 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bogdan Sandu (201-87) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dumitru Potcoava (197-96) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Rapid players scored in double figures. At the losing side Luca Colceag responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Naser Omer scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rapid (9-2) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Voluntari 2 lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. They share the position with CSU Ploiesti. Voluntari 2 will play next round against strong Univ Mobitelco II trying to get back on the winning streak. Rapid will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Univ Mobitelco II in Cluj Napoca.
