Regular Season Round 3: Al Shamal - Al Rayyan 76-58

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Rayyan (1-1) in Doha on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Al Shamal (2-0) 76-58. Al Shamal looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Al Rayyan's players. It was a good game for American guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Georgian point guard George Tsintsadze (192-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 assists for the winners. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. American guard Eric Lockett (196, college: NC State) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Carl Montgomery (203-89, college: Chicago St.) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Al Rayyan. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
