Regular Season Round 13: Estudio - Alcala 83-89

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Estudio (5-6) lost to eighth ranked Alcala (7-5) in Madrid 83-89 on Saturday. Strangely Estudio outrebounded Alcala 49-36 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Oscar Mendez (182-0) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. British forward Fidel Gomez (197-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Alcala players scored in double figures. Guard Jose Carrasco (186-94) answered with 9 points and 8 assists and point guard Juan Llorente (192-93) added 14 points in the effort for Estudio. Estudio's coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Alcala moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Azuqueca. Estudio lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Alcala will face Azuqueca (#7) at home in the next round. Estudio will play against Tobarra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
