Regular Season Round 13: La Fecha - Mondragon 65-77

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Mondragon (8-4) defeated 11th ranked La Fecha (5-7) in Arroyo Encomienda 77-65 on Saturday. Mondragon outrebounded La Fecha 45-30 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) contributed with 8 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Guard Eduardo Castano (186-0) answered with 19 points and David Paniagua (197-0) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for La Fecha. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mondragon moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Nissan Burgos. La Fecha lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with seven games lost. Mondragon will face Arha Hoteles (#6) in Santander in the next round. La Fecha will play on the road against Filipenses (#14) in Palencia and hope to win that game.
