Regular Season Round 13: Lucca - Cecina 93-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Cecina (5-8) lost on the road to tenth ranked Lucca (5-7) 93-87 on Saturday. Lucca made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Cecina was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for naturalized Argentinian guard Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Forward Salvatore Genovese (200-87, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. Lucca's coach Michele Catalani allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Flavio Gay (184-98) answered with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Lorenzo Turini (193-98, agency: Players Group) added 22 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cecina. Lucca moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Pozzuoli. Cecina lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Lucca will face Valsesia (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cecina will play against Piombino (#7) and hope to win that game.
