Regular Season Round 13: Zeus NPC Rieti - Novipiu Casale 82-58

There was an upset when 4th placed Novipiu Casale (8-5) was outplayed on the road by ninth ranked Zeus NPC Rieti (7-6) 82-58 on Sunday. Zeus NPC Rieti dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Novipiu Casale's 28. Zeus NPC Rieti forced 20 Novipiu Casale turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Novipiu Casale was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Giovanni Vildera (205-95) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Zeus NPC Rieti players scored in double figures. Guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) produced 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Chris Roberts (193-88, college: Bradley) added 12 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zeus NPC Rieti moved-up to sixth place in A2. Loser Novipiu Casale keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Zeus NPC Rieti will face SS Napoli (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Novipiu Casale will play against the league's second-placed Fortitudo AGR (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
