There was an upset in Mahon where higher ranked Menorca (7-7) was crushed by tenth ranked Gran Canaria II (5-9) 84-65 on Sunday. Gran Canaria II dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Menorca's 26. Finnish guard Edon Maxhuni (188-98, college: LBSU) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and Ruben Lopez (205-2) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Gran Canaria II players scored in double figures. American guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Dutch center Deion Bute (206, college: CCSU, agency: Duran International) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria II moved-up to ninth place in Silver. Loser Menorca keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Gran Canaria II will face Benicarlo (#12) in Castellon in the next round. Menorca will play on the road against L'Hospitalet (#7) and hope to win that game.
