There was a minor upset in New York City where their close opponent Hawks (6-22) were crushed by fifth ranked Knicks (6-22) 143-120 on Tuesday. Knicks dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 60 and made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hawks 55-36 including a 42-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Knicks looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was center Mitchell Robinson (215-98, college: WKU) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Canadian forward RJ Barrett-Jr (201-0, college: Duke) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Trae Young (188-98, college: Oklahoma) produced 42 points (!!!) and 8 assists and guard DeAndre Hunter (201-97, college: Virginia) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Knicks maintains fifth position with 6-22 record, which they share with N.Orleans P. and Atlanta H. Hawks lost fifth consecutive game.
