There was an upset when higher ranked Vendee Challans (10-7) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Vanves (3-13) 89-78 on Friday. Vanves forced 19 Vendee Challans turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Vendee Challans' players. Swingman Raphael Desroses (199-80) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 assists for the winners and center Miguel Buval (207-90) chipped in 8 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Vanves players scored in double figures. Guard Paul Turpin (190-93) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Kevin Bichard (196-86) scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Newly promoted Vanves maintains fourteenth place with 3-13 record. Vendee Challans lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Vanves will face higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#13) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
