Not a big story in a game in Okinawa where 5th ranked Kyoto H. (8-14) was outplayed by second ranked Ryukyu GK (14-7) 99-78 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Kyoto H. 33-22 including 20 on the defensive glass. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The other American import forward DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws). Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) produced 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ryukyu GK have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Osaka E. Kyoto H. lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face again Kyoto H. (#5) at home in the next round.
