Regular Season Round 16: Schalke - Bremerhaven 48-81

Date: December 21, 2019
The game between 15th ranked Schalke (4-11) and second ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (12-3) in Schalke ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Bremerhaven outscored Schalke 81-48. They outrebounded Schalke 42-26 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Will Vorhees (203-95, college: Notre Dame, OH) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Rohndell Goodwin (195-91, college: Chaminade) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Vorhees is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. American point guard Shavar Newkirk (183-96, college: St.Joseph's) produced 10 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American forward Shawn Gulley (196-93, college: Temple JC) added 9 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven maintains second position with 12-3 record having just two points less than leader Chemnitz. Schalke lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth place with 11 games lost. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven's next round opponent will be Kirchheim Knights (#10) at home and are hoping to win another game. Schalke will play against Lions in Karlsruhe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
