Regular Season Round 22: Sea Horses M. - Hokkaido L. 88-97

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kariya where 5th ranked Aishin Sea Horses (5-17) were defeated by sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (10-12) 97-88 on Saturday. Hokkaido L. dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 48. American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) fired 44 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: UNC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) produced 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Five Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hokkaido L. maintains sixth position with 10-12 record. Aishin Sea Horses lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Hokkaido L. will have a break next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play again at home against Hokkaido L. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
