Not a big story in a game in Palencia where 14th ranked Filipenses (2-11) was rolled over by eleventh ranked La Fecha (6-7) 102-59 on Saturday. La Fecha forced 24 Filipenses turnovers. Strangely Filipenses outrebounded La Fecha 43-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Filipenses was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Millan Lopez (185-94) scored 20 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and David Paniagua (197-0) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four La Fecha players scored in double figures. Kenyan Ronald Gombe (203-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and guard Manuel Herrero (184-1) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. La Fecha moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with Tabirako and Zarautz. Newly promoted Filipenses dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. La Fecha will face higher ranked Solares (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Filipenses will play against Arha Hoteles (#6) in Santander and hope to win that game.
