Regular Season Round 17: Angers - Vitre 100-57

NM1 top team - Etoile Angers (15-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Vitre (8-9) 100-57. Etoile Angers dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Vitre's 26. They outrebounded Vitre 43-30 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Etoile Angers shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Point guard Jeremy Bichard (186-90) stepped up and scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and swingman Stephan Gauthier (192-95) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. Romain Gregoire (201-91) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and forward Guillaume Merie (198-83) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Etoile Angers maintains first place with 15-2 record, which they share with Chartres. Loser Vitre dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Etoile Angers will face league's second-placed SO Maritime Boulogne in Boulogne-sur-Mer in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vitre will play at home against JSA Bordeaux (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
