Regular Season Round 23: Ryukyu GK - Kyoto H. 97-76

Rather predictable result when second ranked Ryukyu GK (15-7) rolled over 5th ranked Kyoto H. (8-15) in Okinawa 97-76 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kyoto H.'s 30. They outrebounded Kyoto H. 32-15 including 19 on the defensive glass. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. International guard Narito Namizato (172-89) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 23 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) added 20 points in the effort for Kyoto H.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ryukyu GK. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Osaka E. Kyoto H. lost their twelfth game in a row.
