Regular Season Round 23: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata A. 72-67

An interesting game for Shiga L-Stars (10-13) which hosted in Shiga their close opponent Niigata A. (7-16). Fourth ranked Shiga L-Stars managed to get a 5-point victory 72-67. Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Niigata A. 39-24 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American forward Nick Perkins (203-96, college: Buffalo) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Niigata A.'s coach Kazuhiro Shoji rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shiga L-Stars maintains fourth place with 10-13 record, which they share with Hokkaido L. Niigata A. at the other side keeps the fourth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Shimane SM. Shiga L-Stars will play against Shimane Magic (#6) at home in the next round. Niigata A. will play against Aishin Sea Horses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
