Very predictable result when second ranked Matera (12-3) defeated on the road 14th ranked Avellino (2-10) 74-66 on Sunday. Naturalized Latvian forward Gints Antrops (201-82, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Argentinian center Marcelo Dip (205-84, agency: Players Group) chipped in 17 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Five Matera players scored in double figures. Guard Domenico Marzaioli (190-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) responded with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Andrea Locci (203-93) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Avellino's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Matera maintains second position in B with 12-3 record behind leader Palestrina. Loser Avellino keeps the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Matera will face league's leader Palestrina in Roma in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
