Regular Season Round 24: Hokkaido L. - Hitachi SRT 104-103

A very close game took place in Saporro between Hokkaido L. and Hitachi Sunrockers. Sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (11-13) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers Hitachi Sunrockers (15-9). Hokkaido L. managed to escape with a 1-point win 104-103 in the fight for the third place. Hokkaido L. made 38-of-48 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game, while Hitachi Sunrockers only scored eighteen points from the stripe. Hokkaido L. forced 22 Hitachi Sunrockers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) added 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hokkaido L. moved-up to third place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Hitachi Sunrockers lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Chiba J.. Hokkaido L. will meet at home league's second-placed Toyama G. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Diamond Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
