No shocking result in a game in Athens where third ranked AEK (10-4) smashed 6th ranked Ionikos Nikaias (7-7) 103-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. AEK led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 60.3 percent from the field. AEK outrebounded Ionikos Nikaias 36-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) fired 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import guard Kendrick Ray (188-94, college: Kennesaw St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Five AEK players scored in double figures. Ukrainian-American guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) produced 13 points and American guard Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M, agency: Network Sports International) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. AEK have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Promitheas. Newly promoted Ionikos Nikaias keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
